In 2018, we developed the Corps poèmes project in partnership with Danse Humaine and Debout Actes de Parole, through which we experienced the cross-fertilization of dance and poetry. This year, we are taking this project further within the context of French-learning classes for newcomers to Montreal. Our workshops are offered as part of conversation courses held at CARI Saint-Laurent, fostering a more creative, artistic approach to language-learning.
Participants have a basic knowledge to intermediate knowledge of French. Some do not practice it on a daily basis, or generaly wish to improve it. They are invited to explore less pragmatic, more personal lexical fields, touching upon emotions and memories, in words – even when they are missing – and movement. They are accompanied by Kristen Cere, dancer and choreographer, and Marie-Paule Grimaldi, poet.
The project is supported by City of Montréal and Government of Québec as part of the MTL Cultural Mediations Program of the Cultural Development Policy for Ville de Montréal.
