VIBEDANCE #8 – Marlene Millar

For this penultimate episode, we welcome filmmaker Marlene Millar, a leading figure in dance on screen and an active member of the FQD community. ✨

A pioneer in the genre with her company Mouvement Perpétuel and her acclaimed series Migration Dance Film Project (winner of over 25 international awards), Marlene reflects on her unique journey, from her earliest memories of family dance to her film studies. Through her work, she crafts a poignant visual language where movement, memory, and the human experience converge.

During the conversation, Marlene shares what inspired her to focus her lens on dance, from David Hinton to François Girard, as well as insights into her major collaborations. She passionately discusses how she translates choreography to the screen and her desire to continually bridge the gap between art, community, and real life.

The episode also revisits her invaluable connection with the Quartiers Danses Festival since 2010 and the importance of this direct contact with the public in nurturing her creative work.

A captivating encounter with a visionary artist who continues to inspire dance far beyond the stage.
