The FQD celebrates its 20th anniversary with a local, national and international edition

For its 20th edition, the Festival Quartiers Danses (FQD) presents 20 indoors performances from September 7 to 18, 2022! With 6 international companies and 11 local companies, the performances will be presented at Théâtre Maisonneuve of Place des Arts, at Salle Bourgie of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and at the Studio-Théâtre des Grands Ballets Canadiens / Wilder Building.

For a 4th consecutive year, this 20th edition of FQD is dedicated to women by bringing together 10 women choreographers out of the 17 national and international choreographers invited. Moreover, the FQD is honored to have as co-spokespersons for its 20th edition the two renowned dance artists Margie Gillis and Anik Bissonnette.

Cultural outreach

FQD's cultural outreach

Since 2013, the FQD’s cultural mediation department organizes a multitude of activities in social, health and community organizations all around Montreal. This branch of the FQD searches for concrete ways to reduce the gap between the public and the art, between the artist and those who benefit from their work. Cultural mediation also fastens the existing mission to democratize dance and make it accessible for all publics. The activities take the form of workshops adapted to the different communities, intimate and privileged performances, conversations with artists and round tables to name a few.

Throughout the years, the cultural mediation team has developed an offer of workshops that can be tailored and adapted to the specific needs of different groups and populations: On the moveLil’ dancersThe universe of and even more! Our department also develops special projects collaborating with different organizations and partners in the community. These innovative projects are imagined and brought up to fit the specific needs and particularities of the population involved.
