Dance collective
Of Iranian origin and trained in French educational institutions, Nasim Lootij and Kiasa Nazeran founded the Vâtchik Danse collective in Montreal in 2016. The duo draws inspiration from the art and socio-political history of their country of origin, Iran, current political issues, as well as modern artistic movements from the beginning of the twentieth century, including German expressionism of the 1920s. They have three Montreal-based choreographic creations: Moi-Me-Man (2017), La Chute (2019), L’Inconstance (2024).
From 2017 onwards, with “Moi-Me-Man” and “La Chute”, our collective drew inspiration from German expressionism of the 1920s to express, in choreographic language, the atrocities that Iranians have suffered since 1979. Thus, in 2024, we created “L’Inconstance” to raise awareness among Westerners of what could happen to them if, like Thomas Caravaggio, they remain incredulous in the face of the gaping wounds opened in the bodies of peoples trapped by artificial paradises conceived by superficial intellectuals.
