Dance-theatre artist
Punit is a Surrey, BC–based dance-theatre artist bridging contemporary and street forms, including Hip-hop and Breaking. His work integrates movement and theatre to explore lived experience, society, and the mind. Mentored by Sophia Sosa, Arash Khakpour, Deanna Peters, Lesley Telford, and Sadhya Dance (India), he has created work with NewWorks and Dance West Network, touring nationally in Canada. He is a recipient of the Dance Victoria Chrystal Dance Prize and is currently researching across the UK and Japan.
My artistic approach brings lived experience into the rehearsal room through layered storytelling, metaphor, and interdisciplinary mediums. I work with play, humour, time, and shifting perspectives, allowing meaning to emerge through process. Each work develops its own approach, guided by honesty, a commitment to the concept, and a balance between personal inquiry and connection to the world.
