Dancer and choreographer
Naomi is a Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal-based dance artist and choreographer. In 2023 she completed GibneyPRO under the direction of Alexandra Wells and was a resident artist with Danse à La Carte. Naomi’s choreographic work was awarded for ‘Outstanding Choreography’ by the FRANKIE Awards, and has received the support of the Margie Gillis Dance Foundation, the Canada Council for the Arts, Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec, the City of Ottawa, and the City of Montréal.
Drawing on technical forms of dance, theatre, and comedy, my intent is to generate humanizing dance-theatre that explores existential questions. I am particularly interested in exploring the more eccentric, neurotic, and complicated aspects of personality and society and using playfulness and humour as pathways towards empathy and sincerity. My choreographic work is an invitation to be embodied, whimsical, and existential.
