Biography

Mélissa Martin-Melmaze is a choreographer, performer, and teacher originally from New Brunswick, now based in Quebec City. A graduate of the École de danse de Québec in 2020, she has developed a stage language informed by a multi-style background. An emerging artist, she created Bordélique (La Rotonde, 2024) and choreographed for the 5th season of Les Chanteurs masqués. In addition to a variety of other projects, she is also the founder of the MelMaze program, dedicated to mentoring young dancers.

Artistic vision

MelMaze’s universe is born from a productive tension between chaos and dream. Her choreographic language—labyrinthine, free, intuitive—draws on the multiplicity of styles she has explored. Her first large-scale work, Bordélique (La Rotonde, 2024), explores the beauty of inner disorder. Through her creations, she seeks self-transcendence and draws inspiration from the depths of her imaginary worlds.
