Choreographer
Based in Montreal, Lina Cruz founded Productions Fila 13 in 2003, after several years working as an independent choreographer. Her artistic approach has been highlighted and highly acclaimed in Toronto, where her works have received the prestigious Dora Mavor Moore Award on several occasions, as well as nominations in various categories
In my work, I seek to create both characters and landscapes, universes where strangeness always rhymes with playfulness, images charged with urgency and humor. As for movement and gesture, I am interested in the fusion of several techniques/styles as well as different areas of stage expression. I have always been drawn to sculpture and drawing, and I believe I approach choreographic creation as if it were drawings or sculptures that move, that breathe.
