Choreographer
Kyra Jean Green is a Canadian-American choreographer and founder of Trip The Light Fantastic, a Montreal-based collective that fuses contemporary dance and media arts. A Juilliard graduate, new mother, dancer and filmmaker, she draws her inspiration from the human psyche and social change. Her work has been presented at C2 Montréal, in Denmark, New York and Panama. Her creations are thought-provoking, seeking to break down stigmas and honour vulnerability through movement.
My artistic approach is rooted in improvisation, emotion, and unexpected concepts that touch something deep within me—something difficult to put into words. I am strongly drawn to facial expressions, raw emotion, the absurd, and darkness. These elements help me explore the delicate space between what is visible and what is felt. I collaborate closely with performers, allowing spontaneous expression and personal truth to emerge, in order to create works that resonate and open up a space for reflection.
