Choreographer and Performer
Originally from Madagascar, Géraldine Leong Sang was 7 when she first started dancing. She decided to dance for a living after discovering contemporary dance with the RARY Company, where she was a dancer, performer, teacher, and administrative director for many years. In 2011, she founded her own dance company, JINY, where she managed the multidisciplinary platform Per’impro. Géraldine moved to Montreal in 2020 and currently collaborates with the theatre troupe Les Bouches Décousues.
“Human relationships are the inspiration behind most of my creations. I add two rules for myself: to remain authentic and to ensure every part of my body is featured equally. For example, I believe my eyes and my vocal cords should have as many opportunities to express themselves as my arms. It is not easy, but I love facing this challenge every time I create.”
