Choreographer
Born in Kuujjuaq, Béatrice Larrivée works in contemporary dance as a performer and creator. She has collaborated with RUBBERBAND, Compagnie Marie Chouinard, Batsheva Ensemble and various international choreographers. As a teacher of Gaga, she has created three original works and produced a piece for six graduates of the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal. Her solo, presented at the 1|2|3 competition in Tel-Aviv, was selected for the International Dance Solo Festival in Stuttgart. She recently created a work for FLYOUT Transition Company in Rome.
My artistic choices are rooted in a physiological exploration in which I push myself beyond my limits to gain a deeper understanding of the essence of movement. Inspired by my experiences with the RUBBERBAND method and Gaga, I blend these approaches, which are sometimes complementary and sometimes contrasting. My body becomes a terrain for emotional exploration, a link between instinct and consciousness. Each work is born from an intimate feeling, the living substance of my creative process. This approach aims to transform the physical experience into a sensitive and embodied choreographic language.
