Contortionist dancer
Anna Protsiou is a contemporary dancer and contortionist originally from Greece, based in Montreal. Since 2023, she has been developing her solo piece Tēthýs with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts during a residency at TOHU. The work premiered in Montreal in March 2025 as part of the PHI Centre’s Espaces incarnés series, and then in Winnipeg in September 2025 as part of HYPERART for Nuit Blanche. She is currently performing in Altération by Aly Keita / Kira Arts, a multidisciplinary production created in Montreal in April 2025 and touring across Canada.
I am a contemporary dance and contortion artist, and my practice explores the boundaries between the body, perception, and transformation. I am interested in states of transition, mythologies, and the relationships between humans, nature, and animals. Through dance and circus arts, I seek to reveal the infinite possibilities of the moving body and to create immersive works that question identity, metamorphosis, and our relationship to the living world.
