Circus art company
Nathan Biggs-Penton is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, creator, and choreographer who primarily works with circus and dance. He is a co-founder of the circus company Acting for Climate Montréal. Originally from the Appalachians in Virginia, he has made Montreal his home. His work is deeply influenced by his connection to nature and rooted in feminist, ecological, and anti-colonial values. Nathan has performed with companies such as Cirque du Soleil, Les 7 doigts, Carmagnole, Cirque Éloize, Girovago, Machine de Cirque, and Circus Smirkus, among others.
Acting for Climate Montréal — Social Climate, Political Climate, Environmental Climate — is dedicated to creating socially and environmentally engaged performances that inspire a sustainable and compassionate future. Founded in 2020 by Agathe Bisserier, Nathan Biggs-Penton, and Adrien Malette-Chénier, the company now welcomes a new member, Samuelle McGowan-Richer. Through committed and deeply human performances, awareness workshops, professional conferences, and partnerships with PhDs and researchers in environmental and social sciences, the company is active on all fronts.
