Job offer : cultural mediation assistant

The mission of the Festival Quartiers Danses (FQD) is to democratize contemporary dance in all its forms and hybridities by making it more accessible to all audiences, in theatres, in unusual places such as museums and in urban settings. The FQD offers performances by mainly local, but also national and international artists. It adopts a multidisciplinary approach to creative dance by presenting shows, performances, installations, films, exhibitions, meetings, round tables and cultural mediation workshops.

We are currently recruiting for a Cultural Mediation Assistant.

Summary of tasks
  • Support the cultural mediation coordinator in the coordination of various cultural mediation activities (partnerships, calendar, logistics)
  • Participate in the creation of workshops with the cultural mediation manager
  • Co-facilitate cultural mediation workshops in organizations with a dancer from the festival
  • Participate in the conception and implementation of the mediation before and after the shows
  • During the festival (September): animate the mediation before and after the shows with the person in charge of cultural mediation
  • Participate in the drafting of reports and grant applications
  • Update workshop attendance statistics and write reports following the workshops.
Skills and qualifications required
  • Training in animation and cultural research or any other relevant training for the position
  • Ability to work with different audiences (e.g., seniors, mental health, intellectual disabilities, community
    community environment, children, adolescents and young adults)
  • Good humor and ability to work in a team
  • Comfortable with frequent travel
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy
  • Creative spirit, resourcefulness, judgment, autonomy
  • Ability to work in a Windows environment (Excel, Word)
  • Fluency in written French and knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of the dance or performing arts milieu, an asset
  • Experience in dance, an asset.
Requirements for employment
  • The candidate must be eligible for the Emploi-Québec wage subsidy program;
  • 30 week contract;
  • Full time (30 hours/week);
  • Salary according to the salary scale in place;
  • Start date: January 3, 2023.
