Job offer : Production Manager

The mission of Festival Quartiers Danses (FQD) is to democratize contemporary dance in all its forms and hybridities by making it more accessible to all audiences, in theatres, in unusual places such as museums and in urban settings. FQD offers performances by mainly local, but also national and international artists. It adopts a multidisciplinary approach to creative dance by presenting shows, performances, installations, films, exhibitions, meetings, round tables and cultural mediation workshops.

We are looking for a person to fill the position of Production Manager for Festival Quartiers Danses (FQD). This position is in close collaboration with the artistic and general management, the administrative management and the communications and cultural mediation departments. You will participate in the organization of the entire festival and you will have the chance to work with the festival’s artists, external service providers and to work in collaboration with all the members of FQD team in a cheerful mood and attentiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Understand an artistic project and translate it into its different modalities.
  • Accompany the production of one or more events (before and during the festival) by ensuring the respect and the regulatory aspects.
  • Administrative assistance in the writing of grants and contracts, collaborating in the
    the elaboration of budgets.
  • Coordinate with the team the different actors: artists, audiences, volunteers, institutions and partners.
  • Respect and create the production schedule in consultation with the two
    management: Administrative and General.

 

The main tasks

 

Administration 

  • In collaboration with the administrative management: assistance and follow-up of contracts, fees
    of artists, administrative formalities related to possible hiring, administrative follow-up with
    administrative follow-up with the different partners and institutions, follow-up and preparation of
    reports and grant applications.
  • Management of the recruitment of volunteers (elaboration and coordination of the calendar
    of volunteers).
  • Participation in the elaboration of the annual report of the festival and realization of a schedule of
    tasks for the next edition.
  • In collaboration with the administrative and general management: elaborate the follow-up of the
    production budget and the artists’ fee grid related to the programming.

 

Logistics 

  • Management of the logistics of the festival in connection with the technical director and the team:
    coordination with artists, with indoor and urban venues, permit applications, ticketing, technical needs and equipment, etc.
  • Management of the logistics of the artists and the reception of the artistic teams: availability, performances, materials, technical needs, accommodation, travel, catering, various requests, etc.
  • Coordination of the creative residences of the artists of the festival (in studio and in urban context before the festival, during the summer).
  • Coordination and reception of national and international presenters

 

Artistic coordination 

  • Management and development of the programming schedule: sorting of proposals, feasibility study (technical, financial, calendar), creation of schedules.
  • Support to the artistic direction: planning of the calendar of shows in theatres and urban context (coordination of meetings between the general and artistic directors, etc.)

And any other related tasks.

 

Formation and skills:

  • University degree in arts or event management or any other relevant training such as other relevant training such as administration (in the cultural field, an asset).
  • 3 years of experience in event administration and logistics (experience in festival experience in organizing a festival, an asset).
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows (Excel, Word,) and Google Suite (drive, gmail, google my business, etc.)
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French and English.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Mastery of the Adobe suite (InDesign and Photoshop).
  • Mastery of WordPress and Mailchimp platforms (an asset).

 

Profile required:

Be autonomous, proactive, meticulous, have good organizational skills and the ability to work and a good ability to work in a team and in a common open space. At least one year of experience in festival organization. Interest in the dance/cultural milieu , an asset.

 

Conditions of employment

  • Permanent full-time position (35 hours/week).
  • Teleworking possible depending on the requirements of the schedule and the rules of public health.
  • Available evenings and weekends during the festival period (September). 
  • Salary to be discussed according to experience.
  • Entry into post as soon as possible.
