This new edition will bring together more than thirty choreographers and companies from Quebec, across Canada, and around the world. Performances will be presented in several venues within the Quartier des spectacles, as well as outdoors in various public spaces across the city, where they will surprise and captivate passersby, audiences, and curious onlookers alike.
While the full program will be unveiled in early June, the festival is proud to reveal today the visual identity of its 24th edition.
This year, the festival celebrates dance as an act of physical resistance—an idea that permeates and shapes the entire 2026 visual identity. Through an artistic direction that is at once poetic, ephemeral, political, and vital, Studio Patchil proposes an image held in tension, where the dancing body asserts its presence against forces that seek to dissolve, erase, or absorb it.
“Two bodies share the same space—one precise, colourful, and alive, dancing; the other diffuse, vast, and atmospheric, attempting to absorb it. This is not a duet. It is a tension. The mass tries to engulf the dancing body, to dissolve it into its own matter. But the body resists—it remains legible, articulated, present. The long exposure captures both states simultaneously: the precise gesture and the force that seeks to erase it. The chromatic glitch is not a flaw—it is the trace of the struggle.” explains Patil Tchilinguirian, Artistic Director of Studio Patchil.
In co-presentation with USINE C
Festival Quartiers Danses (FQD) is proud to partner with Usine C to present REPLICA on September 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. This choreographic odyssey by Andrea Peña & Artists explores representations of the body across time, moving between mythology, digital self-portraiture, and a culture of reproduction. Set within a scenographic garden evoking a queer Eden, dancers Frédérique Rodier and James Phillips evolve in a liminal space where reference points dissolve, oscillating between utopia and dystopia.
Created between Naples, Sweden, Norway, and Montreal, this immersive duet blends sculptural beauty with raw emotional intensity. Recipient of the 2026 CHANEL Next Prize, Andrea Peña unfolds a hybrid, singular, and deeply human choreographic language.

For its 24th edition, Festival Quartiers Danses Festival (FQD) will present a contemporary dance program shaped by strong and distinctive choreographic voices, bringing together emerging and established artists.
Through the works presented, the festival aims to foster a sensitive dialogue with the major upheavals shaping our time—whether political, environmental, technological, or related to identity. In a global context marked by geopolitical tensions and profound social transformation, FQD affirms dance as a space of resilience, emancipation, and poetic resistance.
Feminist approaches, questions of collective memory, and the reappropriation of traditional codes drawn from diverse cultures will run through this edition as artistic gestures carrying transformative power.
Through the work of the 24 choreographers and companies presented in theatres—including 16 local artists, 2 national artists, and 5 international artists—the festival will weave a guiding thread around human epics, with works moving between intimate odysseys and collective myths. The program will bring contemporary dance into dialogue with African dance, contemporary circus, urban dance, neoclassical dance, and performance art, offering a wide range of forms and aesthetics. This edition will also spotlight artists from Japan and Hong Kong as part of a special Asia Focus—an encounter still rarely seen on Quebec stages—as well as creators from Spain and the United Kingdom. Through this constellation of works and perspectives, FQD invites audiences to imagine new ways of inhabiting the world and reimagining a shared humanity.
The indoor performance program will be released throughout the month of June.
