Shapeshifters | World Premiere

Choreographer : Janelle Hacault

1st participation at FQD

For her first participation at FQD, Janelle Hacault proposes a piece full of simplicity and irony, integrating theatre and contemporary dance. The quartet Shapeshifters uses movements from everyday life. Questioning our doubts and revealing the monster within each of us, this piece brings to light truths of our human relationships. Using movement to explore the internal functioning of our thoughts and emotions, this creation presents a world at once dreamlike and nightmarish.

SILK | World Premiere

Choreographer : Jane Mappin

8th participation at FQD (2007, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018)

A choreographer, teacher, and performer working at the height of her art, Jane Mappin creates abstract pieces with pure lines contrasting lively emotions. In 2018, Jane presents the quartet SILK questioning the impact of time on our lives. How can humans create alongside constant change? Transitions occur either softly, naturally, and slowly, or brutally and drastically. How can we keep trying new things as the foundations of our lives crumble?

IAmWeAre (2) | World Premiere

Choreographer : Jane Mappin

Jane Mappin has previously touched on the subject of mental health in her work. This year, she presents IAmWeAre (2), a new creation bringing together professional and atypical dancers (particularly those suffering from aphasia, schizophrenia, bipolarity, or chronic pain). This piece celebrates the resilience and joy of living that endures despite life challenges. Their burning desire to dance and share unites them, even for just a moment.
