Azalia Kaviani draws her inspiration from the word “Thunder”, meaning a strong growl, as a metaphor echoing the strong and fast changes that occurred in our lives over the past few years. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of opening up and forming relationships with one another.
“Thunder In The Heart” helped Azalia Kaviani connect with others and develop her physical abilities. Made up of two duos and one solo, this piece is, for the artist, a personal testimony. Through her collaboration with choreographer Maria Neri, a partner aware of both his potential and his limits, Azalia Kaviani underlines how important mutual support and collaboration is for the art of dance. She believes it is a way to pass down culture, emotion, and history.
“I wanted to create something completely different to address this unprecedented event. I reflected about the losses many were faced with and their impact on my peers, and I eventually came to accept it.”
