Tēthýs (Extended) | Anna Protsiou

Description

Tethys is a contemporary contortion solo that explores the discovery of origin and destination. Inspired by a previous dance solo, “Metamers,” created in 2022, this work was conceived between the shore and the sea, on Mount Pelion in Greece, during the summer of 2022.

By drawing on mythology and archetypes related to the hybrid human-animal existence, and extending into the depths of the underwater world, Tethys expands upon the initial exploration by examining the human journey through the cycle of life and death.

As we embrace the unknown of the ocean, the only constant question remains: who are we, really? A journey of erosion, transformation, and emergence.
