The Malandain Ballet Biarritz wanted to pay tribute to the Basque Country where it has been established for 24 years.
The artists will perform some dances inspired by the Basque tradition passed on by Claude Iruretagoyena of the Maritzuli company and Jon Maya Sein, associate artist of the Malandain Ballet Biarritz. Dance is an essential part of Basque culture and it is said that each village has its own dance and that their origin goes back to the mists of time.
For this piece, Jon Maya chose Ravel’s Waltz.
