Presences, Resistances

Rooted in street dance, this double program turns movement into an act of resistance. From the celebration of unproductive loitering in We Just Out Here Loitering! by the British Columbia-based duo Punit to the political and healing breakdancing of Collapse by Molokhia Squad, two duos take the stage to challenge norms and transform the world’s tensions.

Punit - We Just Out Here Loitering! (20 min)

Existential, Playful, Non-transactional

We Just Out Here Loitering! is a dance-theater piece by Punit, an artist based in British Columbia, that blends contemporary dance, hip-hop, and breakdancing. The piece explores the idea of loitering: being present without a specific purpose, letting time stretch out, and questioning our relationship to productivity. Through humor, silences, and moments of suspended time, the performers enter, exit, wait, or deliberately miss certain moments. Inspired by urban dance and contemporary practice, the work offers a space where simply being together—without seeking to go anywhere—becomes an experience in itself.

Molokhia Squad - Collapse (15 min)

Tension, Transformation, Raw

Founded in 2024 by Bashir Al Mahayni and Inès Chiha, Molokhia Squad is a collective driven by a desire for social impact and political engagement. Drawing on their self-taught backgrounds—Bashir from breaking and hip-hop culture, Inès from martial arts and theater—the two choreographers have developed a sensitive physical language that views dance as a space for encounter, reflection, and collective transformation. Shaped by their migration stories, their diverse heritages, and their cultures of resistance, their work explores the connections between the body, relationships, resilience, and healing, using movement as a tool for emancipation, resistance, and healing.
