Pain and I | Sarah Hopfinger

6 September 202319:00Studio-Theatre of Grands Ballets Canadiens | Édifice Wilder

Description

A bold exploration of chronic pain, Pain and I explores the artist’s life experience through movement and text. This critically acclaimed solo show is a love letter to the artist’s pain and celebrates the rich complexities of living with chronic pain.

Set against original classical music composition by Alicia Jane Turner, this powerful work invites us to reflect on what it means to take care for our bodies, ourselves, and others, in times of personal and collective pain.
Created by queer-disabled artists Hopfinger (she/her) and Turner (they/them), Hopfinger’s lived experience is at the heart of the choreography. Pain and I asks: what can pain teach us?

Access is built into this work – the performance is relaxed and invites audiences to do what they need throughout. There will also be a Graphic Score available for those unable to attend the theatre and as a support document for audiences.
