Description

L’Inconsistance, by the Montreal-based collective Vâtchik Danse, founded by Nasim Lootij and Kiasa Nazeran, offers a choreographic reflection on the violence experienced by Iranians since 1979. Inspired by German Expressionism and Kurt Jooss’s La Table verte, the piece features two performers and a strip of paper in constant transformation, symbolizing the human spirit and its illusions. By turns an object of desire, a mask, or an instrument of violence, this material reveals the fragility of ideals and the mechanisms of blindness.

Through a blend of naive gestures, physical tension, and unsettling imagery, the work navigates the spectrum between the grotesque and the tragic to question our ability to see—or refuse to see—reality.
