Screen to Motion: Act III

This fall, let yourself be transported by "Screen to motion" a unique encounter between cinema and contemporary dance. From September 9 to 18 (8 p.m. to midnight), the facade of the Wilder Building (Place des Festivals) will come alive with a continuous architectural projection of short films co-produced by FQD, offering a truly immersive experience. To extend the experience, attend the Performance Rendez-vous on September 9, 17, and 18 at 9 p.m.: unique evenings featuring the screening of a short film, immediately followed by a live performance created in direct resonance with the visual work, where image and movement respond to one another.

Marites Carino x Tentacle Tribe - EXUVIAE (5 min)

The skin of an animal, particularly that of an insect larva. In the wake of a global pandemic, we found ourselves—against all expectations—confronted with our own selves. With this new perspective, this new self-awareness, and a growing appreciation for the importance of others, we are shedding our old habits and discovering new ways of being. Filmmaker Marites Carino and choreographer and dancer Elon Höglund have teamed up to explore the possibility of physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth in EXUVIAE, a dance-for-the-camera duet featuring dancer Amara Barner.

The screening will be followed by a dance performance inspired by the film, presented by Tentacle Tribe (Montreal—a duo).

Max Machado x Cai Glover - Am I What I'm Not? (4 min)

Please perceive me, even my imperceptibility
And I am sap
That weeps when you overwhelm me
If only I could catch flies the subtle way leaves do
If only I could just get up off the couch and leave
And where would I be then?
So far away and so late that I miss the changing of the leaves.
So apathetic in space that I’m ignored by the breeze.
Centered on a sidewalk, walking on the side, passing by railroad tracks and cemented things.
Concrete doubts
Heavier than the skies where I spend my time.

The performance will be followed by a dance piece inspired by the film, created by Cai Glover (Montreal—solo).
