The Sursaut dance company, led by French choreographer Morgane Le Tiec, presents a double bill featuring a screening of the short film Abyssal and an excerpt from a new work for five female dancers. From the screen to the stage, this work explores femininity, empowerment, and the strength of the collective through a contemporary ritual inspired by viriditas, a symbol of regeneration. Having performed with major Quebec dance companies before devoting herself to choreography, Morgane Le Tiec has developed a sensitive, committed, and deeply human artistic approach.

Please perceive me, even my imperceptibility
And I am sap

If only I could catch flies the subtle way leaves do

The performance will be followed by a dance piece inspired by the film, created by Cai Glover (Montreal—solo).

The skin of an animal, particularly that of an insect larva. In the wake of a global pandemic, we found ourselves—against all expectations—confronted with our own selves. With this new perspective, this new self-awareness, and a growing appreciation for the importance of others, we are shedding our old habits and discovering new ways of being.
