The Sursaut dance company, led by French choreographer Morgane Le Tiec, presents a double bill featuring a screening of the short film Abyssal and an excerpt from a new work for five female dancers. From the screen to the stage, this work explores femininity, empowerment, and the strength of the collective through a contemporary ritual inspired by viriditas, a symbol of regeneration. Having performed with major Quebec dance companies before devoting herself to choreography, Morgane Le Tiec has developed a sensitive, committed, and deeply human artistic approach.

The screening will be followed by a dance performance inspired by the film, created by Morgane Le Tiec (Sherbrooke – quintet).

Directed by Xavier Curnillon, this short film explores the themes of fear, the imagination, and isolation.

“What we feel on that particular day—the soft or intense light, the sounds we hear, the news we read in the newspaper the day before that still unsettles us the next day—all of it comes together to be absorbed intensely.”
