What She Saw | Cinquième Salle de la Place des Arts

Through movement, theatre, and music, the “What She Saw” solo orchestrates eleven years from an intimate diary. Inspired by emotions depicted in the diary, it explores key moments in a teenager’s life and their personal development, from ages 12 to 23.

Started as a therapeutic process, the show brings life to written words by expressing them with movement and emotion. The goal is to pause for a second to reflect and celebrate the struggles, strength, and growth we encounter in our journey from adolescence to adulthood. A collaboration with experimental electronic composer Zao, the piece attempts to combine music and movement to create a personal story. Using familiar sounds to conjure up emotions, the unique music strengthens the relationship with the audience through the shared experiences of our teenage years.

What did we experience? What emotions did we feel? Do we understand them? Are we ready to welcome them or do we fail to recognize them? Emma-Lynn invites the audience to take part in an uncomfortable journey to understanding.

Nostra Dea : 2 | Cinquième Salle de la Place des Arts

A contemporary dance duo, “Nostra Dea : 2” is inspired by Massimo Bontempelli’s piece, “Nostra Dea” (1925). Main character Dea is an agent of chaos embodying unpredictability and the changing nature of identity.

Dea’s erratic and mysterious presence is suggested through a blend of electronic rhythms, orchestra music and ambient sounds. A captivating duo, “Nostra Dea : 2” uses Dea’s character to dive into the complexity of human nature. Through dynamic choreography and evocative soundtracks, the audience is invited to meditate about the changing nature of identity and how challenging it can be to understand those who refuse to fit in boxes.

The One(s) Who Never Lived | Cinquième Salle de la Place des Arts

In this piece, two individuals explore the balance between order and impulsiveness, creation and destruction. Precisely synchronized, their movements suggest the steadiness of today’s industrial processes and assembly lines, while hinting at their dichotomy. They are channels representing the complex interaction between attraction and repulsion, between indifference and the need for emotional connection and vitality. A striking contrast between nature and technology and between humanity and mechanics, the piece highlights how these seemingly contradictory elements are inherently bound.

Liminal Phantoms | Rue Sainte Catherine

Liminal Phantoms delves into the darker side of the human psyche. Through acrobatic movement and powerful images, the piece explores identity, mental health and social norms. Somewhere between reality and illusion, it invites us into a sensory and introspective experience.

En Take Out Stp! | Rue Sainte Catherine

“En take-out stp!” explores movement through hip-hop culture and a unique musical experience. Choreographed and performed by the founding members of the Flow collective, the duo combines several urban dance styles – including breakdancing – and contemporary dance through structured and flexible movements and sounds.

Fascinated by the human desire for escape and exploration, the performers dive into the concept of freedom through movements and slackening. Even though we can feel freedom anywhere, the longing for discovering new worlds remains, bringing meaning to our lives. Travelling makes us feel alive and allows us to escape, relax, and forget the worries of everyday life.

As innate means of escape, dance and music are a gateway for artists and audiences alike to communicate their most intimate desires and aspirations.
