En Pièce Jointe | Place des Festivals

In a parallel universe, Ms. Paravent is about to be interviewed for a job that could help her career take off. In a strange atmosphere of radical authority, mistakes are forbidden. As she completes trial after trial, tensions increase and interactions are charged with anguish and absurdity. In this messy environment, content and form intertwine, reflecting on our own stereotypes. Time has stopped, the narrative has failed, and we are left with nothing but words echoing in our bodies.

En Pièce Jointe is a celebration of those who do not fit the norm, are left behind or ignored, like unsold items that fail to appeal to consumers in supermarkets. The piece attempts to deconstruct reality, fiction, and absurd thoughts, while transporting the viewer in a bizarre and awkward universe, where dance and theatre become one.

3 Femmes | Musée Pointe-à-Callière

Like Picasso’s cubist figures, three women dance a conceptual deconstruction of reality. Intertwined with grace and geometry, their bodies stretch to embrace the environment that surrounds them. Their limbs intertwine like fluid brushstrokes. Intertwined in a canvas of bluish, pinkish and meaty hues, these three subjects depict a dreamlike complicity. They join and detach like pieces of a puzzle in a rhythm that is sometimes frantic, sometimes languorous. In a painting that is both pictorial and animated, these three characters construct and deconstruct themselves, evoking different feminine archetypes. Trois Femmes … An ode to new forms and femininity … Trium Femina.

WITHIN | Studio-Théâtre des Grands Ballets Canadiens

Viewed with VR glasses, immersive dance video WITHIN invites the public to enter the mind of a choreographer. Each member of the audience controls the story and travels with a dancer through the ruins and natural landscapes of the Spanish Basque country. A virtual reality metaverse, the piece showcases real human bodies moving as one with nature.

WITHIN was born thanks to INNOCULT, a European project promoting the development of art and technology prototypes. It was presented during MEET, in Milan, and supported by Dantza Labea, Eszenabide and Espacio Punto de Fuga. So far, the piece has been shown in Cinedans, BLV Art, MEET, Labo Xl, Teatro Barakaldo, and the Dantzan Tzan Festival.

The Beauty of it | Studio-Théâtre des Grands Ballets Canadiens

Inspired by Carl Jung theories, The Beauty of It explores the duality between the conscious and the unconscious. The vague frontier in this dual relationship does not always allow us to differentiate between dream and reality. The piece uncovers the weakness of human beings and reflects on the authenticity of self-created actions or characters. Where is the mask? What is real in our lives? What is the difference between action and behaviour? Using recordings from Dr. Carl Jung’s interview in 1957 as an external narrator, The Beauty of It provokes deep thoughts and studies the performer who becomes a mirror of our own selves. Through the many qualities of movement and expression, the piece immerses us in the collective unconscious.

Kristen Céré & Nina Galea

À travers moi | Studio-Théâtre des Grands Ballets Canadiens

With this piece, Kristen Cere studies the many angles of a relationship that can be depicted through various roles and ideals and involve many emotions.

À travers moi analyzes how subconscious movements express what happens inside and outside of us, as we connect to the emotions driving the dynamics of our relationships. Without judgment, she simply observes the hidden power of body language… À travers moi .

Adrian Batt | Gargoyle Dance Club

Portraits | Studio-Théâtre des Grands Ballets Canadiens

Portraits takes inspiration from thoughts and how they can be expressed through the body. Thoughts and senses are the heart of this piece, where five dancers freely express their own authenticity. Their connection to their own self cements the group, proving that we are all linked, through our individuality, to the source of the same life. How will individual portraits transform the powerful group? Portraits explores how personal experience is necessary to harmoniously connect with one another and create humanity.
