Blue Gold is a powerful and intimate solo by Agata Życzkowska, crafted as a performative collage of past choreographic fragments and new scenes, blending autobiography with melancholy and brilliance. On stage, the artist explores the continual transformation of the female body and identity in a quest that is both deeply personal and universally resonant. The piece subverts the “greatest hits” format to offer a bold, vibrant remix grounded in the present moment. A metaphor for what is precious yet elusive, Blue Gold also evokes water – as a source of life, memory, and vulnerability. Through a dance that flows, erupts, and suspends, the work questions the resilience of the body and the light that shines through its cracks.
Intensity, resilience, transformation
Ouvre mes yeux is an immersive contemporary dance solo by queer artist Charles-Alexis Desgagnés, performer-choreographer and artistic director of the company Personne Danse. The work unfolds within the artist’s actual place of residence, Chez Personne, an artist’s loft located in the heart of Montreal.
The extreme proximity of the audience invites them to become full participants in the exploration, perhaps even stirring within them a strange sense of intimacy. Audience members are free to move around the space at any time and are the curators of their own experience.
Juxtaposing the natural scenography of the loft, the organic sunlight, and the artist’s metamorphic dancing body, Ouvre mes yeux explores the codes of a queer identity—one often linked either to superficial entertainment, transactional hypersexualization, or a cathartic spiritual awakening. What are we to do with this wardrobe of sacred costumes?
Ouvre mes yeux marks the first step in a new solo creation cycle in which Charles-Alexis, in his mid-thirties, continues to refine and develop the choreographic bodies of his previous work L’appel des braises (2023), while infusing them with new colors inspired by his recent inner journeys through psychedelic medicinal plants.
Queer and neurodivergent artist Nicholas Bellefleur presents his first solo creation, COWORKER: a physical and sensitive portrait of the modern worker archetype. Through a series of choreographic vignettes, he unveils the tensions between conformity and inner truth, in a gestural language that is both conceptual and athletic. Behind the costume, emotions accumulate and seek expression. Between introspection and performance, this powerful work explores social masks and self-liberation.
Magical realism, theatrical, athletic
In Late Bloomer, choreographer Hélène Simoneau delicately explores the dynamics of power, connection, and belonging. In collaboration with an exceptional artistic team, she investigates the invisible forces that bring us together or set us apart. Between collective responsibility and the desire to be seen, the piece reveals the subtle line between genuine inclusion and mere integration.
Physical, intimate, relational
In Étude 3: Fleeting Moments: studies on being human, choreographer and performer Jane Mappin, with a 45-year career under her belt, teams up with cellist Erich Kory to explore human memory and its distortions. Between altered memories, imagination and indelible body memory, this sensitive solo tackles the complexity of our inner narratives. Part of a larger work, the piece offers an intimate and authentic reflection on what it means to be human.
Reflective, personal, contemplative
In Tandem immerses us in a world of powerful duets, where love, desire, and deep connection are revealed through movement.
