Programme

Anna Vauquier

Le prix de la douleur | Jardins Gamelin | Vitrine Émergente II

Trained between France and Quebec, Anna Vauquier develops a physical, expressive, and emotionally charged dance language. In her debut creation, The Price of Pain, she explores the emancipation of the female body and the tensions between vulnerability and strength. Through a series of metamorphoses, the performers move between contained rage, embraced softness, and intimate resistance. A piece deeply rooted in the body, where each movement seeks to uncover what so often remains buried.

Expressivity, physicality, intimacy

Lara & Jhazza

FORMA | Jardins Gamelin | Vitrine Émergente II

FORMA is a contemporary duo that explores the peaceful confrontation between two opposing forces: the individual and society. The piece questions authenticity in a world where normality feels imposed. The performers embody an inner conflict, torn between who they are expected to be and who they strive to become. Inspired by Aikido, the performance highlights a search for peace and balance, seeking unity and harmony through a movement shaped by transformed struggle.

Duality, combative, eclectic

Vincent Lacasse

Castus | Jardins Gamelin | Vitrine Émergente II

Castus explores identity through the body and the perception of others. The performer manipulates their movements and gestures to question the fluidity of identity, supported by a soundtrack ranging from opera to hip-hop and costumes that evoke various social categories.

The audience plays an active role, writing their perceptions of the dancer on a long roll of paper. This interactive process invites reflection on gaze, judgment, and identity, transforming the act of watching into a collective and introspective exchange.

Interactive, eclectic, identity

Willow Seeds

Mirror Maze | Jardins Gamelin | Vitrine Émergente II

With Mirror Maze, the duo explores sensuality in all its forms, balancing intellectual stimulation with sensory pleasure. In an intimate and playful duet, Laura Perron and William-Nicolas Tanguay play with contrasts—innocence and desire, childhood and eroticism—within a world inspired by fairgrounds and their illusions. Through precise, mischievous movement, they question our relationship to the body, the gaze, and collective imagination. A work at the crossroads of the senses, memory, and fantasy.

Sensual, playful, theatrical

Charles-Alexis Desgagnés

Ouvre mes yeux | Chez Personne - Le 312

Ouvre mes yeux is an immersive contemporary dance solo by queer artist Charles-Alexis Desgagnés, performer-choreographer and artistic director of the company Personne Danse. The work unfolds within the artist’s actual place of residence, Chez Personne, an artist’s loft located in the heart of Montreal.

The extreme proximity of the audience invites them to become full participants in the exploration, perhaps even stirring within them a strange sense of intimacy. Audience members are free to move around the space at any time and are the curators of their own experience.

Juxtaposing the natural scenography of the loft, the organic sunlight, and the artist’s metamorphic dancing body, Ouvre mes yeux explores the codes of a queer identity—one often linked either to superficial entertainment, transactional hypersexualization, or a cathartic spiritual awakening. What are we to do with this wardrobe of sacred costumes?

Ouvre mes yeux marks the first step in a new solo creation cycle in which Charles-Alexis, in his mid-thirties, continues to refine and develop the choreographic bodies of his previous work L’appel des braises (2023), while infusing them with new colors inspired by his recent inner journeys through psychedelic medicinal plants.

Sinha Danse

D'un souffle commun | Esplanade Tranquille

Shared breath, from Roger Sinha orchestrates a poignant journey between isolation and the vital need for connection. Carried by mesmerizing live music and a symbolic scenography, this choreographic work places the constrained body in tension with the longing for encounter. A danced poem where social structures become a space for resilience, invention, and communion.

Poetic, meditative, connection
