Since 2018, the Festival Quartiers Danses (FQD) has collaborated with the to organize Dance Tours in their exhibitions. In times of pandemic, this project evolved into the co-production of a short dance film: a danced performance of South Korean artist by . Thus was born the digital artwork , a moving extrapolation of the visual artist’s installation.

The film was launched on June 3, 2021 at a virtual event hosted by the PHI Foundation. As part of this event, the first public viewing of COMM_UNION was followed by a discussion with choreographer Menka Nagrani, director Olivier Arseneault and the Head of Education at the PHI Foundation, Marie-Hélène Lemaire, hosted by Catherine Pelletier- Voyer, Head of cultural mediation at the FQD. In order to meet the shared mission of the three partners, the democratization of the arts, the complete work has been available online since June 4 and will be available for a period of one year.

Bringing together dance, contemporary art, music and cinema, this project and the partnerships that happened beacause of it reflect the FQD’s vision of diversity and collaboration.

This project is funded under the Agreement on the Cultural Development of Montreal between the City of Montreal and the Government of Quebec.
