Job offer : Communications and Logistics Assistant

The mission of Festival Quartiers Danses (FQD) is to democratize contemporary dance in all its forms and hybridities by making it more accessible to all audiences in both traditional and unusual venues. FQD offers performances by mainly local, but also national and international artists. It adopts a multidisciplinary approach to contemporary dance by presenting shows, performances, installations, films, exhibitions, meetings, round tables and cultural mediation workshops. The 21st edition of the festival will take place from 6th to 17th September 2023.

Festival Quartiers Danses is looking for a person to fill the position of Communications Assistant. The candidate must be eligible for the Emploi-Québec salary subsidy program. You will have the opportunity to work with the artists of the festival, external service providers and to work in collaboration with the members of FQD team in a cheerful and attentive manner.

  • Operational implementation of the 2023 Communications Timeline and strategic development of the 2024 Communications Timeline;
  • Support the strategic planning of communication, promotion and publicity activities for the
    activities of the QDF and the festival;

  • Implementation of communication, promotion and publicity actions;

  • Management and strategic animation of the publications on the social networks and analysis of the results;

  • Creation of promotional visuals to support the different communication actions (in collaboration with the graphic collaboration with the graphic designer);
  • Updating and maintenance of the website (WordPress platform);

  • Support to the coordination and follow-ups with sponsors, partners and advertisers);

  • Support for the coordination of media relations (preparation of press releases, follow-up);

  • Various follow-ups with the artists of the festival;

  • Understanding an artistic project and translating it into its different modalities;

  • Accompany the production of one or more events (before and during the festival) by
    ensuring that the regulatory aspects are respected;

  • Coordinate with the team the different actors: artists, audiences, volunteers, institutions, and partners;

  • All other related tasks.



  • Autonomous, proactive, curious, with good organizational skills and the ability to work as part of a team in an open environment.
  • Interest in the dance and cultural industry.


  • Management of the logistics of the festival in conjunction with the technical director and the team: coordination with the artists, with the venues in theatres and in the urban context, requests for permits, ticketing, needs and technical equipment, etc;
  • Management of the logistics of the artists and the reception of the artistic teams: availability, performances, materials, technical needs, accommodation, travel, expenses, catering, various requests, etc ;
  • Coordination of the creative residences of the artists of the festival (in studio and in urban context in
    before the festival, in summer);
  • Coordination and reception of national and international presenters ;
  • Support to the artistic direction: planning of the calendar of shows in theatres and in urban contexts (coordination of the meetings of the general and artistic directors, etc.);
  • And all other related tasks.



  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or other relevant training (in the cultural field, an asset).

  • Excellent command of the Windows environment (Excel, Word,) and the Google Suite (drive, gmail, google , my business, etc.);

  • Excellent command of spoken and written French and English;

  • Excellent writing skills;

  • Mastery of the Adobe suite (InDesign and Photoshop);

  • Mastery of WordPress and Mailchimp platforms;

  • Knowledge of social media and their analysis tools (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram);

  • Training or experience in graphic design (an asset);



  • Full-time position (35hrs/week);
  • 6-month long contract (in place as of April 2023);
  • Start of the contract during the month of April 2023;
  • Eligible for the Emploi-Québec salary subsidy program;
  • Working from home possible according to the requirements of the schedule and the rules of public health;
  • Availability on evenings and weekends during the festival period (September);
  • Salary to be discussed according to experience and the salary scale in place;
