Roy Assaf was born in 1982 in Israel, and has been dancing and creating as long as he can remember. He began formal training with Regba Gilboa at the age of sixteen, and was drafted two years later.
He toured worldwide with Emanuel Gat as performer and choreographic assistant from 2004-2009. Since 2010, he has been independently developing and performing his own works, while receiving commissions from renowned companies such as the L.A. Dance Project, Royal Swedish Ballet and Batsheva Dance Company.
Roy Assaf and Geneviève Boulet met in 2014 at the Venice Dance Biennale in Italy. After this first experience, they had the common desire to continue their collaboration not wanting to let financial constraints and distance slow down this simple desire to create together once again. A year later they met in Montreal to create the solo A Girl.
