Bunker + Vault

Bunker + Vault explores the resilience and strength of the female body, as well as the unwavering pressure it has undergone for generations, while drawing inspiration from the choreographer’s own experience. The piece was inspired by Rebecca Margolick’s research about the young female workers who resided at the Clara de Hirsch House in New York from 1899 to 1950.

Variations of this piece were presented in Carcassonne (France), Berlin (Germany), Mexico (Mexico), Portland (USA), Montréal (Canada), New York (USA), Vancouver (USA), Wells (Canada) and Singapore (Asia) – online only. The full version of Bunker +Vault was presented in Solos Hecho a Mano in San José (Costa Rica) in November 2021.

Rebecca has presented her work in Costa Rica, France, Benin, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, Israel, Mexico, the United States and Canada. Named as one of the “25 People To Watch” by Dance Magazine in 2021, she received a scholarship from Ailey’s New Directions Choreography Lab and was a resident student in the Banff Centre for Arts. She has created pieces for the Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica, the Ballet B.C. Performance Project et Ailey School.
