Stardust and Parallax

DUET

Our perception of stars in the night sky is relative to where we stand. Though two may neighbour each other to the naked eye, truthfully the space that separates them is incomprehensibly vast. The narratives of constellations are assigned without their knowledge. A connection so apparent from earth is completely unnamed in the depths of space. Stars live blissfully ignorant of their supposed importance and attributed relationships. Stardust and Parallax is about the interstellar as much as the stars themselves, and the way in which we see them

Biography

Noël Vezina is a queer interdisciplinary movement artist based in Montréal. Her latest accomplishments include a cloud, a distance (2020); We live together now, a video performance presented at the Sanskar Festival (2020) and Festival Bouge D’ici (2021); and  an ongoing collaboration with Nicholas Bellefleur on A Safer Space, which was performed at Festival Quartiers Danses in 2019. In February 2020, she hosted the first edition of 5×8/6, a free-form experimental performance soirée.

Artistic vision

I  am largely self-taught, and my process is highly intuitive and impulsive. Because I approach performance as a tool to connect deeply with myself and others, my work often takes on transient, intimate forms. I strive to be radically soft, honest and vulnerable. I value not knowing and never perfecting. To be kind and loving is essential.
