Kyana Lyne obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Performance at Ryerson University in Toronto in 2018. After obtaining her diploma, Kyana relocated to Montreal where she was a performer for the choreographers Andrea Peña, Alan Lake, Victor Quijada. She also collaborated with the company ENTITEY / Jason Martin as an outside eye. His work INHABIT (2020) was presented in Halifax as part of Kinetic Studio’s Open Studio series.
Kyana collaborates with filmmaker Siam Obregón for the co-creation of their short dance film.
My dance is anchored in an intimate observation of my interior spaces. I take inspiration from my impulses, from the connection between the inside and the outside of my body, and so I improvise. I discover and explore the different states of physical and mental consciousness that this practice brings me. A metamorphosis takes place and the resulting gesture is spontaneous, impulsive and linked.
