The short dance film Smudge, by Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo x Pepper O’bomsawin, will be screened as part of the Exhibition Early Days : Indigenous Art from the McMichael Canadian Art Collection at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ) until April 21, 2025. This new partnership with the MNBAQ reinforces Festival Quartiers Danses’ (FQD) commitment to supporting and highlighting the richness and diversity of Indigenous voices in contemporary dance.
Smudge, recipient of the Prix de la Danse de Montréal in the Performer category in 2021, explores the power of tradition in the face of modern isolation, linking two generations through smoke, blood and Earth 🌿.
This co-production is part of FQD’s extensive collection of short films, representing Montreal on the international dance film scene.
