BIOGRAPHY OF THE CHOREOGRAPHER
Born in New York, Dulcinée Langfelder studied dance with Paul Sanasardo, theatre with Eugenio Barba and Yoshi Oida, and mime with Étienne Decroux. In 1978, she came to Montréal to join the Omnibus troupe, with which she worked until 1982. She was also briefly part of the Carbone 14 troupe. She founded her Montréal-based company in 1985, creating multidisciplinary performances that have been presented around the world.
My scenic language involves the articulation of several disciplines through the rigour typical of dance. I am convinced that dance (as with visuals and music) is perceived by certain parts of the brain while speech is perceived by others. I love juggling with these complementary perceptions to create an effect that moves the audience on several levels. My work is very personal. I have discovered the universal power on stage of profound intimacy, as well as humour!
